Intersolar North America is one of the largest and fastest growing solar events in the world, with nearly 30,000 attendees expected this year. On Day 1 of the three-day exhibition, Stion’s sales and marketing team was busy at work showing current and potential customers our “Simply Better” thin-film technology as well as some of the key balance of system components that make installation more reliable and streamlined.

Our first day at Intersolar started off at the Krannich Solar booth on the first floor. Founded in 1995 and represented in 15 countries in all, Krannich is one of the largest and most experienced distributors of solar panels in the world. As one of the leading distributors of our Stion thin-film modules here in the U.S., their presence and support enables us to engage with some of our current and future users and answer some pertinent questions from thought provoking solar pros. This includes key small and medium sized installers whom we do not service directly.

Throughout the day, Senior Sales Manager Russ Bowman (Southern California) and Senior Engineer Jon Haeme provided tutorials on the key benefits of Stion panels, and fielded questions on how our state of the art frameless panel design can be used in the residential and commercial markets. We take great pride in working with and providing support to Krannich’s knowledgeable sales team and well-run operations and purchasing team, and it has been great to see our product perform well while drawing buzz and interest at their display booth.

Next, we made a stop on the third floor to check in with the Brittmore Group, a neighboring partner company also headquartered in Silicon Valley. It was excellent to see our Stion frameless panels displayed prominently at their booth. Brittmore has been a hit at Intersolar thus far, in large part because of their cutting edge technology which stands out among a large group of balance of system players pursuing various racking and mounting solutions. Brittmore is bringing to market an automated racking system that cuts down on labor costs and makes for a safer installation process. They also avoid clamps and frames by using a trusted Dow Corning adhesive. The same adhesive trusted by skyscrapers worldwide.

Brittmore’s innovations are particularly valuable to Stion because they “enable faster and more cost effective adoption of frameless panels.” Thankfully, we think we make tremendous frameless thin-frame panels at Stion, so this has been a great partnership and working relationship thus far, and our first test project in Central California is just the first of many more to come. Brittmore is a great solution for just about any EPC endeavor.

Finally, we stopped by to see our friends at Renusol out of Atlanta, GA, which like Stion, is based in the red-hot Southeast U.S. market. Their Solar PV mounting system is a great solution for residential panels. We take pride in our Stion panels being very attractive atop a home due to their flawless all-black aesthetics, and we are thankful that Renusol’s frameless clamps allow for safe and strong installation of frameless modules. This all helps us to improve the aesthetics and costs of residential installations. The customized Stion frameless clamps that Renusol offers were jointly designed by the both of us, for maximum compatibility. Now on their third product release, we think these clamps look sleek as well! It is great to see how much they have progressed over the recent years, and a sign that frameless modules will soon pick up even more momentum for rooftop installations.

Overall, it was exciting to see so many market leaders together in one venue and reassurance that our industry continues to progress forward at a rapid rate. The technology on all three floors of the Mascone Center was remarkable, and it was great to engage with so many members of the industry. With the US market approaching 10 GW per year and pushing China and Japan for the pole position in the global market, the focus will turn to scalable, customer friendly technologies which have the ability to evolve and grow with the market. As today demonstrated, Stion is working tirelessly to find ways to make its technology “Simply Better” in all segments of the market.
